Internet Marketing : An Introduction To Making Money Online

Internet marketing for newbies is hard. Let's face it, everybody starts at the same place. Even the most successful marketers were once just learning how to create affiliate links, write short articles, or set up the simplest of webpages.

Getting started can be hard for anyone, so if you are a beginner to the world of internet marketing I will try to clear things up a little and go over the basics.

First of all what exactly is internet marketing? Affiliate marketing, more specifically, is basically a form of online advertising. You work as an affiliate or "advertiser" for a vendor and promote their products. You recommend these products to other people, and if they buy it on your recommendation you will get paid a commission.

Amazon.com is a well known site, so I will use their affiliate program as an example. Let's say you are an affiliate for Amazon and make a simple blog about digital cameras. You write simple reviews of the cameras using the existing information on Amazon (pictures, specifications, customer reviews). You just write a short review of a camera and include a link to Amazon. If someone clicks your link and goes to Amazon, they can buy it. Once they buy it, Amazon will know they bought it because of your recommendation, so they will pay you a commission.

That's all there is to it. But in order for people to see your affiliate links and click on them you will have to make a simple website and write articles. Don't be afraid though, it really is simple once you know how.
There are websites like WordPress, Blogger, Squidoo, and Weebly that let you create free webpages. It is free, fast, and very easy...in fact, it is barely harder than creating an email that includes links and pictures. Your website doesn't have to be professional, so don't worry about it- just having a website is the important part.

Once you have a simple website to put your affiliate links on, you will write articles that link to your website. There are free article directories (such as this one) that allow you to submit short articles. You don't have to write prize-winning work, but you do want to make sure your articles are original and helpful.

You should also use some simple SEO to help your articles and website perform well. But the process is simple- write articles that link to your website. People will then be directed to your site, where they can read reviews and click through to the vendor/store website where they buy it. Then you get paid.

I hope this article has helped you understand things a little better if you are new to all of this. Trust me when I say it is not as hard as you might think at first, though. You can visit my website for more tips on how to get started and make your first money.
